Rosin is a solid resin derived from plants, crude oil, wood, and gum, among other sources. Tall oil rosin is a significant derivative and by-product of the commercially important Kraft pulping process. Pulp mills primarily supply this product. As a by-product of the treatment of pine pulp, crude oil is obtained. Tall oil rosin is accepted as one of the significant derivatives after it is further distilled. It is used in various industries, including paint and varnish, pulp and paper, rubber, chemical, and polygraphs.
