- In November 2021, A Chinese company called TronHoo has unveiled its newest thermochromic PLA filament for desktop 3D printers. This thermochromic substance, designed for toys, consumer items, artwork, and decorations, allows for colour changes based on temperature when blended with leuco dye additives. In addition, the new thermochromic polymer offers more impact resistance than the conventional PLA filament.
- In September 2021, when a beverage is cold, a variety of thermochromic cans from Crown change colour, and each time the beverage is drunk, a new design is revealed. Traditional thermochromic technology causes the can's colour to change when a cold beverage is inside, helping to inform customers about the ideal drinking temperature. On the other hand, the Reveal technology used by Crown Bevcan in Europe and the Middle East employs two distinct thermochromic inks and enables the display of a third picture immediately following the consumption of the beverage.
