Our ears are positioned in a way that they are only allowed to listen to a particular frequency of voice and sound. If the sound crosses a particular frequency it will cause a disturbance in our lifestyle. Lots of people are heavily struggling to sense a particular voice or voice of different magnitudes such as multiple magnitudes of converging voices in a crowded room. This disturbance is commonly known as the cocktail party effect and in this effect; people face a serious problem of hearing. In a crowded room, there is lot of sound and noises and you won’t be able to concentrate and hear a single word without your complete focus. This can cause hearing loss due to which people won’t be able to hear multiple voices and this is a very problematic thing as sometimes, we miss out on important information. Also, giving a speech gets difficult but to understand other’s speech fully and clearly is more difficult as it needs serious attention to what someone is saying.
It is suggested by new researchers that, for some active listeners, it may become a processing problem in which two ears blend in a very different manner and different sounds come together. This is a very rare condition known as binaural pitch fusion and the cure of this disease is also very much rare.
In our world, modern people are becoming more aware of their health. The research was driven by highly expert scientists and authors. People with normal hearing can separate and understand the multiple voices, but they also get confused about which voice is saying what. Reiss, who has hearing impairment herself and is part of the Oregon Hearing Research Center at OHSU, previously co-authored research in 2018 that first demonstrated broad binaural pitch fusion in hearing impairment. Together with another study showing the blending of the fused pitches, the research suggested the possibility that similar fusion and blending could occur with sounds in speech.
